Brian O'Broin

What year did you begin playing Ultimate Frisbee?

2013 I think

How did you start playing?

A frienx of mine's older brother played in college and told me about it, and that lo-and-behold, there was a team in Coláiste Choilm! The rest is history

Who was your first frisbee crush?

Aesthetically or playing style? Daragh K's moustache is pretty glorious, and Billy McGregor had a class playing style.

What was the best frisbee tournament you ever attended?

WJUC 2014 in Lecco. It was so massive and staying on campus with athletes from across the world was mad craic! Plus we were class, so that helps :P

What was the worst frisbee tournament you ever attended?

Hmm.. Probably Devs in 2013, the wind was crazy strong, and it was my first tournament, and I was shite :P it good craic though

If you were an animal that could play frisbee what animal would you like to be and why??

Penguin, because penguins are awesome and would bid on everything.

If a theme song was played every time you were announced onto the pitch, what theme song would you choose?

Free Bird - Lynard Skynard

What was your best Ultimate Frisbee moment?

1. Convincing the Israeli U20 Womens to cheer for us...against Israel (in Lecco)
2. Going on a 9 point run against Sweden from 4-1 down to win in a top 6 game in Lecco

Which player did you look up to when you first began playing frisbee?

I started playing just as Coláiste Choilm pretty much had the dream team, so I had Donnchadh McAuliffe, Lee Griffin, Billy McGregor, Leanne O'Neill, Caitlin Looney, Doireann Ní Mhuimhneacháin, Laoise Murphy to all look up to in my first year. That was a savage advantage

What player do you look up to at the moment

Matthew Feely, Matthew O'Callaghan, Dónal Murray, Brian T, Daragh K, Ben Noonan, Jack Lynch, Brian O'Neill to name but a few! Cork is such a class place to be young and playing frisbee, there is so much older talent to watch and learn from, it's mental.

Have you ever played a joke on one of your teammates? If so tell us about it!

Nothing Major, the odd hiding of clothes, the wetting of a hoodie, that sort of craic.

Where do you see your frisbee self in 5 years time -

Hopefully at the top of my game. I'll be a ripe old 22 at that stage, and I hope to be causing wreak at u23's, and keeping the sport strong in Cork, if I'm not broken from the sport by then :P

What was the best frisbee team you ever played on and why?

Ireland Juniors at Siege this year. The whole team was just of such a high standard (bringing Rebel to universe, I might add), and everyone was giving their all due to it being the final trial for the team. There was a good atmosphere about the team as well, just something about it just felt right.

Do you have any other hobbies?

Yes, I actively play trad with both my comhaltas branch, and my trio, both for fun and for money :P I have also recently started a collection of old retro video games and consoles.

What was the best frisbee party you were ever at?

Era, I'm only a young'un, so the most exciting 'party' I was at was that completely unbiased table quiz at AIUC Indoors 2015.

Have you ever thought about quitting frisbee?

Not a chance, frisbee's class

Why do you continue to play frisbee?

See above ^^

Choose your ideal frisbee player mush-up

Matthew Feely's fitness, Luke Carey Murphy's pulls, Daragh K's Moustache, Dónal Murray's attitude, my height (I'm rather tall), John Doc's hucks, James Finn's mannerisms, and Bon's throws

An interesting fact about you that people should know

I hate long questionnaires.

If you had to pick one person on your frisbee team to be stuck in a submarine with for 9 days who would you choose?

Martin Reidy, because we can talk for hours about literally nothing

Do you have any nice saying - frisbee or just in general - you would like to share with us?

"Sure if me Auntie had balls she'd be me Uncle!" (In other words, thank you captain obvious)

Do you ever wonder how different your life would be if frisbee didn't find you

All the time, I'd probably still be playing soccer and gaa, and just blending im with everyone else. Frisbee is weird in the sense that it seems to be the only sport I've found that is a natural confidence booster. If I didn't find frisbee, my personality would be much blander than it is, and I probably wouldn't nearly have the balls to do half of the stuff I do if it wasn't for that boost the sport and it's people gave me.
I'd also be really fat too.

Your dream job?

Video Game Developer, or Sound engineer
