March 2015

Thanks so much to The Siege of Limerick (Ultimate Frisbee) for a fantastic weekend and another unreal, well organised tournament by thePelt Ultimate and UL Lads. We came 11th in Open and 3rd in the Ladies. It was was a proper development weekend of the club and we were delighted to give some of players their first outdoor tournament. We had some really tough encounters and it was brilliant to see our new members fairing up against some really quality sides. Congratulations to our ladies team winning spirit for the second tournament in a row. Massive well done to all our players across the other teams in the tournament, UL, UCC, Irish Juniors. Especially UCC Ultimate Frisbee Women who won the ladies division.

Next up is Mixed Tour 1, Cardiff!!

To the lads over in Dubai who beat Japan this morning. Keep it up, Come the boys in green!!

Relay for Life Midnight Cup

Febuary 2015

Rebel last night took part in the Relay for Life Midnight soccer cup. It was a fantastic event and we were delighted to be part of it. Congrats to the UCC Cancer Society for running this event for such a worthy charity. Surprisingly we didn’t too bad at all, coming 3rd place out of 24. Losing out in the semi was difficult to take especially when James Finn was on the opposite team. However we definitely did a lot better than expected and we got huge joy out of beating a few real, angry and confused soccer teams. One of the highlights was Caroline nutmegging the keeper for the goal against a team who were probably taking it a bit too seriously. Great night..

1) Friacra (Conceded a soft goal within 5minutes of game one, sent home and replaced with Andrew for the rest of the cup)
2) Oisin (He’s very good at soccer)
3) John Doc (Volley nearly landed on the roof of the Mardyke)
4) Dylan (Warmed up with a frisbee, embarrassing)
5) Richard (Cleaned one lad out of it, so funny)
6) Micheal (4am is not a nice time to play a semi-final)
7) Caroline (MEGGED)
8) James (Played on another team, traitor! But won the tournament)

Indoor All Irelands
Febuary 2015
What a fantastic weekend for Rebel Ultimate. We’re delighted to announce that we sent 63 players to Indoor All-Irelands. This is a phenomenal result and we’re so thankful to all the hard work put in so far this year. From an open perspective winning the tournament for the third year in a row was a real achievement for us. However it was by no means easy. Pelt Ultimate with a sensational comeback ran the first team to universe point. One of the most spirited and intense ultimate than many of us have ever been part of. In the same light Rebel1 just sneaked pastJabba The Huck in the finals, again bringing it to universe. This final was a spectacle of indoors and a fantastic game to be part of. We’re delighted to say that all three Open teams came in the top 10 at the tournament with our second team narrowly losing out on the plate to an excellent Gonzaga side.

In the ladies, Rebel1 also faced off against Jabba the Huckers in the final and again the game came down to universe point. However Jabba took victory in a truly excellent game of ultimate. We saw a large number of new girls playing their first tournament with Rebel Ultimate this weekend. We were delighted with their performance and can’t wait for mixed outdoors now. Rebel1 Ladies also came away with the most spirited team award and finally a special mention to Oisin Murphy who trained the girls for the indoor season. Thanks so much for all your work and I’m positive you’ll be missed.

Rebel Juniors played their third tournament last weekend. These lads are class and are going to take Irish Ultimate by storm. They are honestly the hardest working group of beginners we’ve ever had and they’re improving by the week.

Rebel Women at Indoor All Irelands

March 2015

A really well written piece  by our own Elaine Prendiville

Rebels 5th Birthday

December 201412

Today is the fifth birthday of Rebel Ultimate, and what an immense five years it has been. There have been over 200 players to don the Cork-notCork jersey at some 50 tournaments, 20 of which have been abroad.

After humble beginnings as an Open alumni team which formed in the winter of 2009, the club has grown to become one of the largest in Ireland with a current membership of 80+ players across Open, Womens, Mixed and Junior Open divisions.

Over the years we have achieved many of our goals and we have suffered some tough defeats, but with every experience we have learned valuable lessons which we hope will keep us going onwards and upwards for another five years.

So thank you to all our opponents throughout the years who have taught us many many things and whether it was in victory or defeat we hope to have earned your respect as you have ours.

Thank you to all the friends and families who have supported the club and the members completely in all our endeavors.

Finally we would like to thank all ex and current club members from across the world who continue to drive the club forward. The enthusiasm and passion from you is what sustains and develops the club.

So here's to another 5 years of Rebel Ultimate!!!

Cheers to Scoober Club for the final it was really intense and scoober filled as we expected. Well done to the Rebel Juniors squad after a tough plate final and were really unlucky. Thanks to Stephen King for picking up with us once again. Finally and most importantly thanks so much to Windy and Adam for the accommodation and generosity all weekend. Ye were fantastic, hosting all 16 players and listening to all our mafia nonsense.

Cork Open

October 2014

Awesome weekend for all the Rebel players involved. Players representing their colleges seemed to have a strong developmental and fun weekend. Saturday proved to be a joy to watch with the junior division in full flourish. Rebel players representing on both Cork squads. An unbelievable final took place between Rebel and Gonzaga college. Rebel finished out winners. Sunday with a bit of help from juniors Rebel Open went on to win the senior title. Again an exceptional final against Ranelagh FC. That had some unbelievable plays and truly was a great spectacle. Rebel ladies using split squads throughout the weekend played each other in the 3rd 4th playoff. By all accounts they had a fun weekend. Congratulations to the organisational committee of Cork Open. A special mention to Lee Griffin for winning best costume at the 90s party.
