What year did you begin playing Ultimate Frisbee?

2010 I think

How did you start playing?

I found out about ultimate frisbee just after finishing up a four year course in Trinity.Would have loved to play it in college, more for the social aspect than anything.
Sean, my brother had just started in UCC and told me about it. It sounded like fun so I went along to a UCC training. I can still picture Mary's and Donal's faces when they were like, oh you're a new beginner, that's great and I was like oh sorry I don't actually go to UCC.

Who was your first frisbee crush?

Oisin Flanagan

What was the best frisbee tournament you ever attended?

Windmill. Nice weather, great party and a brilliant Rebel team. I think we gelled really well together, everyone played their part and we were really positive. Even when we were losing heavily against ( sexy legs/ or could of been outer disc), we managed to turn it around and it was amazing coming 2nd.

What was the worst frisbee tournament you ever attended?

First, I was thinking probably one where it rained a lot and was windy but then it came to me... Tour 3 in Cardiff. It was roasting and we had a small squad- 10 players, which would of keep ok but then Helen Hobson broke her ankle in the 1st game and Hayley fainted. She said it was from the heat but we all know it's cos she is a vegetarian. And I, as per unusual got injured so that left us with 7 players and myself. We struggled through it though.

If you were an animal that could play frisbee what animal would you like to be and why??

A gorilla. It's tall, aggressive and would be able to throw and catch a frisbee.

If a theme song was played every time you were announced onto the pitch, what theme song would you choose?

Don't know. Maybe "Flash Gordon" by Queen to get pumped up.

What was your best Ultimate Frisbee moment?

There's been lots.

Which player did you look up to when you first began playing frisbee?

Mary McKee because of her throws, her calmness on the disc and her knowledge of the game.

What player do you look up to at the moment?

Lots of players. At the moment, Aoife Blake. She was class at mixed tour 1. I haven't been training in ages, she was always good but she has improved so much over the last year, her fitness, her throws, her confidence on the disc. It makes me optimistic, that if I put in a serious commitment, I might actually improve my throws a bit.

Have you ever played a joke on one of your teammates?

Not that I can think of....

Where do you see your frisbee self in 5 years time -

Still playing, but mostly at fun tournament I'd say.

What was the best frisbee team you ever played on?

Playing with Rebel at Windmill

Do you have any other hobbies?

Not really. I like reading when I get a chance.

What was the best frisbee party you were ever at and why?

St. Hatricks Day- so much fun. Three nights of partying, a castle, fancy dress, a banquet with a pig on a spit, sunny weather, fun games, loads of friendly frisbee people from abroad, exciting 6 nation matches to watch and did I mention, it's in a castle. Went the two years and plan to go again next year.

Have you ever thought about quitting frisbee and why?

No. It's too much fun

Why do you continue to play frisbee?

It's fun and a great way to keep fit.

Choose your ideal frisbee player mush-up

Hucks and throw like Brian. Calmness on the disc like Mary.
Read the game like Donal and Jim. Height like Mark.
Read the disc like Rosie. Aggressive D like Sean.
Fitness like Aoife. Positive Attitude like Meara and Fada.
And am happy enough with my catches.
Wow, that would be an amazing player!!!

An interesting fact about you that people should know

No, not really.

If you had to pick one person on your frisbee team to be stuck in a submarine with for 9 days who would you choose and why?

mmm, tough one. Nine days is a long time. Elaine Prendiville, She'd be good fun, makes a good cup of tea, could keep me entertained with her stories and even put on a puppet show for me. :)

Do you have any nice saying - frisbee or just in general - you would like to share with us?

My grandfather has some great words of wisdom. Here's one of the sayings.

Never cross your bridges before they come in view,
Wait until you get there before  you decide what to do.
Never anticipate trouble, pain or loss.
Because the bridge you dread may be an easy one to cross.

Do you ever wonder how different your life would be if frisbee didn't find you

It would be awful. I gave up playing football when I was 19 cos I got injured. Didn't play anything throughout college and really missed it. So I was delighted when I heard about frisbee. Plus the social side to it is great. :)

Your dream job?

Not work and travel the world. Maybe teach English along the way, if I was running short of money.
